IS IT POSSIBLE TO QUICKLY LEARN ECCLESIAL (CHURCH) LATIN WITH ROSETTA STONE? FIND OUT BELOW. |
CAN'T LEARN CHURCH LATIN WITH ROSETTA STONE?That's the usual assumption right? Well, after a short chat with the folks at Memoria Press, we've concluded that assumption is false (keep reading below for the statement from Memoria Press).
Its true that Rosetta Stone teaches "classical" or "non-church" latin, but the language is the same - pronunciation being the only difference. And the pronunciation differences are incredibly easy to learn. Even some of the more conservative novus ordo Catholic seminaries are teaching classical latin (because that's often the only type of teacher available) and simply waiving the ecclesial transition until after the language itself is mastered. This has long been claimed by some, but the anti-Rosetta Stone assumptions prevailed... Until now... |
representative of the famous "memoria press" ecclesial latin
curriculum confirms the transition is easy
"In my experience it only takes a couple months to transition from one to the other since it is only a pronunciation issue at that stage."

so all along TRADITIONAL catholics could have been using the world's premier language learning software and simply spending a couple months to learn the ecclesial PRONUNCIATIONS afterwards!
Let's think about this for a second. Rosetta Stone is purported to be the best language learning software in the world. CIA, NSA, Military, Politicians, Corporate... They all use it! Rosetta Stone, unlike any other language learning platform, has gained a reputation for being able to effectively immerse students in their target language and render them remarkable proficient in a very short amount of time. A Traditional Catholic family, especially the children (but parents too), could spend several months rapidly learning the Latin language through Rosetta stone, then do a quick run through of one of Memoria Press' ecclesial Latin courses for a couple months to make the pronunciation transition, and before you know it they'd find themselves in the pews struggling to adjust to the "new normal" in their lives: reading only ONE side of their 1962 Missal!
